Anonymous, President Trump's EPA is trying to force California to weaken its clean car standards. The Trump administration is already moving to roll back the federal clean car standards. Now it wants to stop California and any other state from establishing their own stricter standards.1 That means more asthma attacks and global-warming pollution from car emissions -- at exactly the wrong time. We are facing a climate emergency, and we need clean car standards to help end our addiction to fossil fuels. Will you donate to help Environment Colorado defend clean cars, our climate, and our environment? For nearly 50 years, California has set strong limits for auto pollution.2 As a result of the state's strong standards, vehicle emissions have dropped 75%, and the market for electric vehicles is booming.3 California's leadership has helped other states achieve cleaner air, too. Thanks in part to supporters like you, 13 states and the District of Columbia have chosen to adopt California's tougher standards. But now the Trump EPA is trying to undo all that progress -- at a time when even the auto industry doesn't support rolling back California's clean car rules. Ford, Honda, BMW, and Volkswagen have all agreed to voluntarily comply with California's stricter tailpipe emissions standards.4 For them, it's easier to build cars that meet a single, predictable standard and sell them nationwide. We're working to save the Clean Water Rule and stop air pollution of all types, but right now, we need to stop the EPA's rollback of Clean Car standards. Thank you, Hannah Collazo |
