Republicans are now calling for voting restrictions to address the baseless allegations of voter fraud manufactured by their own side.

"This election has shown we need major reforms to our election systems, including Voter ID laws across the nation, to protect against fraud and rebuild the American people's trust in fair outcomes,” tweeted Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.).

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) chimed in, tweeting that “the 2020 election chaos is embarrassing [and] must be fixed.”

Despite Trump’s tantrums, no one has found any evidence backing up his cries of mass voter fraud. It is widely understood that this year’s election was completely secure and fair. To create additional voting barriers to address these fabricated claims would only be making voter suppression worse in this country -- which, of course, is exactly what the GOP wants.

The lies need to end NOW. We need to send a message that progressives will not relent in the face of GOP bullying. Just because they repeat their lies doesn’t make them true.

Still, we’re worried that some Americans will fall prey to their claims and lose faith in our democracy. That’s why When Democrats Turn Out is working around the clock to support progessive leaders and rally for progressive legislation, all while fighting for the integrity of our electoral system that the far-right is determined to undermine. We’re making great progress -- but we’re not yet where we need to be, because we’re $2,830 short of our grassroots fundraising goal.
