Will you sign our petition and let your Senators know that you support the decriminalization of marijuana?

This is historic, John.

If the Senate also passes the MORE Act, we can finally decriminalize marijuana and end the draconian policies that have incarcerated millions.

But here’s the biggest challenge we face: Mitch McConnell has openly criticized this bill and hasn’t responded yet whether he’d allow a vote in the Senate. It’s going to take an overwhelming show of support these next days to convince McConnell.

We need to make sure the Senate knows where we stand and channel our grassroots power to ensure a vote. Will you sign our petition and let your Senators know that you support the decriminalization of marijuana?SIGN THE PETITION NOW

In the 1970s, the federal government started a war. They called it the War on Drugs, but the truth is that it was really a war on people — very particular people.

In fact, it is now widely accepted that our federal government flooded communities with drugs, laundered the profits, then cracked down on the victims by arresting and convicting them. In the 40+ years since, tens of millions of people, predominantly from communities of color, have been victims of this war – caught up in prison, their permanent records forever stained by senseless convictions for non-violent drug crimes.

Thanks to Real Justice District Attorneys like Chesa Boudin and Larry Krasner — we’ve made significant progress in recent years around decriminalization and drug reform. From leading efforts to drop existing charges for marijuana possession in Philadelphia, to passing policies that focus on rehabilitation versus incarceration in San Francisco, we’re proud of the hard work these DA’s have done to get us to this point.

We know though that there are still a lot of communities where reform hasn’t reached yet. In 2018, 608,775 people were arrested for marijuana possession, despite the fact that many states have already decriminalized the drug. Passing the MORE Act will be an impactful catalyst in ending the discriminatory and unjust policies that for too long have disproportionately affected communities of color in our country.

It’s going to take a strong show of support from all of us to finish the job and make sure the Senate votes to pass the MORE Act — can you add your name today?ADD YOUR NAME
