December 4, 2020

Dear Friend,

I hope you and your family are staying connected safely as we welcome in the holiday season. Unfortunately, many of our neighbors are struggling with health concerns and financial burdens brought on by the continuing COVID-19 pandemic. The benefits of the current COVID-19 relief package that I helped to pass earlier this spring are set to expire at the end of the year. North Texans cannot afford to wait until next year for more relief.

Families can’t make rent and are worried about how they’ll put food on the table or presents under the tree. Local governments and frontline workers are struggling as COVID cases surge. And small businesses are hurting.

We need action, and your input helps guide my work in Congress. Please take a moment to share your thoughts with me.

Should Congress work together and pass a bipartisan COVID-19 relief package?

The House has passed two subsequent COVID-19 relief packages since the initial Cares Act, yet the Senate has not held a vote on them. That's why I was incredibly glad to see that this week, a bipartisan group of Senators came together to propose a new framework for a COVID-19 relief deal that includes funding for COVID-19 testing and vaccine distribution, a $300 increase in weekly unemployment benefits, additional small business assistance, funding for schools and local governments, rental assistance, funding to help airlines protect jobs, student loan relief and more.

The American people should not pay the price of partisan political squabbling. I support this bipartisan effort led by the Senate and I urge both sides to come together and pass this legislation so that folks can get the relief they need.

 Sincerely,
