Congressman Crenshaw here,
This week, I called out Democrats for prioritizing marijuana legalization and cat legislation over providing COVID relief for small businesses and unemployed Americans. I also explained why I voted against legislation that would decriminalize marijuana production and distribution and expunge the criminal records of marijuana dealers.

When it comes to COVID relief, Speaker Nancy Pelosi believes “nothing is better than something.” She has said so herself.
But she and her fellow Democrats also believe we should focus on weed and cats while thousands of small businesses are being destroyed. That's what we focused on this week - marijuana legalization and Tiger King legislation - while people continue to suffer through this pandemic.
These are the priorities of Nancy Pelosi and Democrats in Congress.

So let's talk about that bill. Democrats passed legislation that decriminalizes distribution and production of marijuana, and even expunges the criminal records of some drug dealers.
This isn't about reforming our laws so people don't get thrown in jail for having a little weed in their pockets. This isn't about allowing research for the medicinal use of marijuana. I think we should be having those conversations at the national level - our country is ready for it.
But this bill recklessly addressed a complex issue with no regard to the safety of our children or the normalizing of something potentially harmful.
