In case you missed our webinar featuring Emmanuel Navon, tune in now to hear him discuss his new book, The Star and the Scepter: A Diplomatic History of Israel

About this webinar: The first all-encompassing book on Israel’s foreign policy and the diplomatic history of the Jewish people, The Star and the Scepter retraces and explains the interactions of Jews with other nations from the ancient kingdoms of Israel to modernity.

As the Biden administration is about to enter office, and Israel is about to enter, once again, new elections, many of us are fearful that Israel will be subjected to an exorbitant amount of pressure. How will Israel’s foreign policy be able to withstand this pressure?

One way to understand the future is to study how Israel has responded to the past. We at EMET believe that, “The past is prologue.” One cannot lead diplomacy and policy of Israel without appreciating where one comes from.

There is no-one more qualified to be able to address these questions than Dr. Emmanuel Navon. Dr Navon is the author of a newly release book, The Star and Scepter: A Diplomatic History of Israel. He is an international relations expert who lectures at Tel-Aviv University, at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, and at Israel’s military academy. He is a fellow at the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security and at the Kohelet Policy Forum and is a foreign affairs analyst for an Israel-based news TV channel. An expert on Israel’s foreign policy, Navon has published dozens of articles and three books, including From Israel with Hope: Why and How Israel Will Continue to Thrive, and The Victory of Zionism: Reclaiming the Narrative about Israel’s Domestic, Regional, and International Challenges.
