John,

Joe Biden is on a mission to bring leading scientists shunned by Trump into the spotlight, in order to restore our trust in the CDC and our country’s coronavirus response.

Among Biden’s top priorities are reviving the central roles of career officials Nancy Messonnier and Anne Schuchat -- the CDC’s respiratory disease chief and principal deputy director. Both women were immediately sidelined by Donald Trump upon warning the public about the “severe” impact of the coronavirus earlier this year.

Rather than ostracize scientists for simply stating the truth, Biden is trusting Messonnier and Schuchat, who he believes will be “crucial to boosting morale” for Americans and the CDC, to lead us through a difficult winter and months-long vaccination campaign.

It’s refreshing to finally see scientists given full power to do their job during the worst public crisis in recent history. But as POLITICO reports, Biden’s greatest task will be re-establishing public trust in the coronavirus team, and his moves have already drawn opposition “from GOP officials and voters opposed to the stricter health measures that have become partisan litmus tests under the Trump administration.” That’s why today, we need to know where you stand:

Do you trust Biden’s coronavirus team?

YES   NO

Thank you so much for taking our poll today.
