Welcome to This Week at LIRS!

Every week, we catch you up on what's new at LIRS—from upcoming events to media appearances, important immigration updates, and more.

Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service is thrilled to be one of five finalists for the Larsen Lam ICONIQ Impact Award, a $12 million grant to secure a brighter, more durable future for refugees.

Our proposed project, New American Cities, provides an opportunity to rebuild for both new Americans and the cities they call home. Through economic empowerment, social mobility, and the promotion of diverse, inclusive communities, LIRS will create an infrastructure that allows both refugees and their cities to thrive.

We'd like to extend our sincerest thanks to everyone who gave to LIRS this #GivingTuesday. We raised nearly $65,000—far exceeding our $50,000 goal! You help make our work supporting refugees and immigrants possible.

Missed #GivingTuesday? You can still donate!
Our Hope for the Holidays campaign isn't over yet! Each year, with the support of hundreds of partners across the country, LIRS collects holiday cards and donations for gifts to share hope with children and families affected by immigration detention.

Spread hope today.

Coming Up

On Wednesday, December 9 at 4 p.m. ET, LIRS will convene experts and advocates for "Beyond Borders and Barriers," a panel discussion about the unique challenges migrant women and girls face internationally and in the United States, as well as ways in which we can further foster a safer, more equitable world.
