Sat 5 December until Thurs 24 December
Old Market Square 10am to 9pm daily
Nottingham Christmas Market opens tomorrow, but visitors will have to wait a little longer for the rides...
Activity in the Old Market Square has been scaled down this year due to the pandemic. There will be a range of Covid-safe measures put in place by the Mellors Group.
While the market will open as planned at 10am on Saturday (5 December), there will be a delay to the opening of rides while visitor attendance and crowd flow is closely monitored to assess crowd density and ensure social distancing can be maintained.
Approximately 40 chalet-style market stalls will offer a chance for some alternative Christmas shopping with a choice of gifts, crafts, and specialty foods. Did you know over 80% of Nottingham’s Christmas Market Traders are within an hour’s drive of Nottingham?
Look out for:
Filthy Vegan - Fans of hearty meat-free meals, look no further!
MXY- Ladies fashion accessories and gifts
Ashby Aromatherapy - Massage oils and hand lotions to enhance or diffuse your mood
Snail Rabbit Tea - An extensive range of quality, loose leaf teas from around the world
Craig Baldwin of Bulwell - Cards and gifts, bath bombs, personalised decorations, and Belgian chocolates
Name of Thrones - Tailor made, printed coat of arms and surname history
Covid-safe measures include a robust cleansing regime with touch points wiped down regularly, large format signage to instruct visitors on safety measures, the availability of free hand sanitiser, one-way systems, and contactless payments. Visitors are encouraged to wear face coverings and these will be mandatory on rides as and when they are opened.
To avoid large crowds, visitors are encouraged to visit the market off-peak, with rides (when opened) discounted by 20% from Monday to Wednesday. Additional trading hours have been scheduled as late as 9pm on most evenings. With many city centre shops also opening late, and the added attraction of all of the stalls lit up, week-day evenings are the ideal time to visit.
Visitors should attend in their household groups or bubbles and should not meet up with other groups at the market. Visitors from outside the Nottinghamshire area are not encouraged to travel.
