Dear
JOhn,
Equality Now has teamed up with
Netflix and the filmmakers of Athlete A, the documentary about the brave gymnasts
that put Larry Nassar behind bars and exposed decades of abuse at USA
Gymnastics, in order to shine a spotlight on the systemic abuse of
adolescent girls in the United States and beyond.
In honor of 16 Days of Activism
Against Gender-Based Violence, we are co-hosting a virtual Town Hall
event on December 9th at 11am PST/2pm EST via
Zoom (naturally) and we
would love if you could join us!
Moderated by Equality Now’s Global
Executive Director Yasmeen Hassan and featuring lawyer and Larry
Nassar silence breaker, Rachel
Denhollander, Athlete A director, Bonni
Cohen, activist and former US National Team gymnast Jen
Sey and UN Special
Rapporteur on Violence against Women Dubravka
Šimonović the panel will
explore the systemic nature of sexual abuse and harassment of
adolescent girls along with solutions on how to end the cycle of
gender-based violence against young women and girls.
Athlete A is more than the story of one bad man, it
is the story of an entire system that failed to protect young gymnasts
from Dr. Larry Nassar and we believe that the solution to end impunity
and shatter the stigma around abuse involves collective action. We
hope that you will be able to join us for this important
conversation.
If you are interested in attending,
signing up is free and easy - just
click here! We would love for you
to be part of what will be a very interesting
conversation.
Best wishes,
Emma Stoskopf-Ehrlich
