Dear John,

Velma is an octopus who is being held captive at the Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay.

She is an amazing swimmer, fighter, hunter and so incredibly intelligent.

But she is denied a chance to express her full natural abilities because she is kept prisoner in an aquarium tank. On display for human entertainment.

Octopuses like Velma and so many others held captive in public aquariums are often cruelly taken from the wild. The trade in octopuses and other wild animals like sharks, rays and other fishes brutally removes individuals from their lives in the wild and ships them across the world to make money for private companies.

These are wild animals, not objects to trade. John, that is why at Freedom for Animals we are on a mission to end this cruel trade and keep animals wild and free. Will you help us?

If you make a donation today, your gift could be MATCHED! At no extra cost to you, you could DOUBLE your impact for animals.
We have an amazing chance to raise £4,800 of the money we need to run an undercover investigation into this cruel trade.
We are taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge! ([link removed])
So if you donate from now until midday on the 8th December your donation could be MATCHED. But you must act quick - the matched funds are limited and could run out!

A recent documentary called 'My Octopus Teacher', captured the hearts of so many as it told the story of one man who bonded with a an octopus when diving in the wild. The relationship they built up over many months was incredible to watch and showed exactly how complex their lives are in the wild.

In captivity in a small tank, what sort of life do these individuals have?

That is why we MUST fight to end this brutal trade, to keep animals like Velma wild and free.

So please, will you make a donation before midday on 8th December? Your £10 gift could be matched to £20, your £50 to £100, thanks to a group of special donors.

Please don't miss this opprtunity:

With the help of other animal activists like you, we have raised over £2200 so far... but we are only half way to our target and just 3 more days until the end of the Challenge. You can help us reach our goal so we can deliver this ground-breaking campaign.

This is a campaign where you can actually prevent animals from ever being kept prisoner in captivity. Most of our campaigns focus on trying to give animals back their freedom, cruelly taken from them by humans… but this campaign can prevent them from ever losing it.

Thank you again for all you do for animals.

P.S. Animals are brutally ripped from their wild homes and undergo long and stressful journeys to be put on display in UK aquariums. Now we have a chance to take action against this cruel trade but Covid-19 is threatening our work.

Please make an urgent donation via the Big Give from now until 8th December and it could be MATCHED. ([link removed]) Your donation will go even further for animals and help protect them from spending a life time in captivity.
