Hey there, John!
Hey team Illinois! It's your state organizing team, with some important information!
We at March for Our Lives Illinois have been very busy this year fighting for young people's representation in policy decision-making that affects us and our communities.
All summer, we marched for justice and equity for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, our neighbors, and our friends; in response the police responded with violence.
So we made the proposition: If they want us out of the streets, they have to let us in the boardrooms.
So, we are proud to introduce the Chicago Police Department Youth Council! This was made possible by several groups with cooperation by the city of Chicago to give the policymakers the youth perspective.
We will not stop holding the people in power accountable for listening to us. But beginning to enter the spaces where they make decisions is the first step.
The youth council is open to Chicago residents ages 14-25, who have a passion for advocacy and keeping their communities safe.
