Maine may have one of the oldest populations, but we now have the youngest Speaker of the House!

This November, voters again put their faith in Maine Democrats, defending our majorities in the state House and Senate. That’s why this week, the Legislature was able to elect Representative Ryan Fecteau as Speaker of the House. At 28 years old he will be the youngest person in the Country to hold that position -- as well as the first openly gay Speaker in Maine’s history.

The Maine legislature wasn’t done making history this week: We also elected our first female Secretary of State - Shenna Bellows.
