Here’s what you need to know about the CARES Act, unique to this year

John,

We could fill pages with the extraordinary impact of your support in this difficult year.

You are responding to the tragedy of sex trafficking — demanding justice — protecting schoolchildren from online predators during the pandemic — crafting stronger laws in states — supporting brave survivors in their journey to healing and life restoration — and much more.

Now, as this year comes to an end, your mindful giving can continue the good work you’ve started.

In addition, it can provide the opportunity to experience significant tax benefits for you and your family and to give more than normal. Because of the 2020 CARES Act:

  1. You can take a charitable deduction against up to 100% of your 2020 adjusted gross income for federal tax purposes.

  2. You can claim an additional “above-the-line” deduction for charitable gifts made in cash of up to $300. If you are not itemizing on your 2020 taxes, you can claim this new deduction.

There are more traditional year-end options for giving available this year as well …

  • IRA Rollover. If you’re 70½ or older, you can give up to $100,000 from your IRA with no tax penalties and without adding a single penny to your taxable income.

And you get an income reduction for your charitable gift whether or not you itemize your taxes. It’s a great way to make a significant contribution and take advantage of the tax break the IRS makes available to you.

Before 2020 is over, you can make an unforgettable impact in the fight to end sex trafficking and save vulnerable children’s lives in the process.

Thank you for your prayers, love, and care. God bless you.
