Friend,
Through your hard work and perseverance, more people voted in the recent presidential election than ever before. As we celebrate the millions of voters of color who cast their ballots, we are continuing to put our attention on the work ahead of changing public policy.
We heard from many of you that you wanted a road map to help our communities drive policy on every level of government. We are thrilled to release our new, bold, and community-driven policy agenda we wanted you to be the first to see. [[link removed]]
The agenda was born out of our networks of thousands of volunteers, and built on three pillars:
1.
Invest
in
Proven
Strategies
to
Prevent
Shootings
and
Homicides
2.
Dismantle
Structures
and
Institutions
That
Fuel
Gun
Violence
3.
End
Gender-based
Violence
Each area encompasses the varied forms of violence that people of color experience on a daily basis, and offers concrete solutions with examples of success.
We will vigorously advocate for these policies, alongside all of you, our coalition members, affiliated Policymakers for Peace, and a network of volunteers committed to pushing leaders to address gun violence comprehensively.
We have also put together sample legislation that policymakers can use to launch a holistic violence prevention efforts in their state or locality called The Community Violence Intervention and Prevention Act [[link removed]] .
We look forward to implementing these policies with you across the country and partnering on the frontlines of this movement.
Thank you for helping us build this community-led agenda, and for being in the fight with us. Another world is possible if we work together.
In solidarity,
Talib Hudson
Policy Director
