Jeanne Manford at Pride

Dear John,

Today we’re celebrating the 100th anniversary of PFLAG founder Jeanne Manford’s birth. In honor of this milestone, the parents of the PFLAG National Board of Directors just sent a letter to President-elect Joe Biden on behalf of our 250,000+ members and supporters and our 400+ chapters across the country.

The letter reads, in part

Now, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Jeanne Manford’s birth on December 4th, we reach out to let you know that we share your goal of moving our nation forward, of healing the rifts, of working for justice and equality for all marginalized people—including our LGBTQ+ kids—and of having the challenging conversations to change hearts, minds, and laws. We come to you with the commitment, expertise, experience and, most of all, love that has held hundreds of thousands of families together, even during the most difficult of times.

As parents of every race, ethnicity, faith tradition, age, physical and mental ability, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression—representing more than 400 chapters across the country, 250,000+ members and supporters, and the entire PFLAG National Board of Directors—we commit to working with you and your administration in the spirit that Jeanne Manford set forth: Creating a country where equality and justice for all really IS for all.

Give a gift to PFLAG National in honor of this major milestone and our work ahead with the new administration to advance equality. Your support helps save lives and brings us closer to our $100,000 goal

This year, our nation saw an extraordinary display of passion and strength when millions of people exercised their right to protest in streets across the country -- against racial injustice, police brutality, and an administration that lacked the leadership to prevent thousands and thousands of deaths from COVID-19.

Just as Jeanne Manford marched in the streets in support of her gay son back in 1972, PFLAGers are marching toward a world where diversity is celebrated and all people are respected, valued, and affirmed. The incoming pro-Equality administration needs PFLAG’s help in fighting for the change we need now -- and we need you with us.

Celebrate Jeanne Manford’s 100th birthday and support PFLAG National’s critical work to move equality forward with a gift of any amount right now

Thank you so much for honoring Jeanne’s 100th -- PFLAG wouldn’t be where it is today without you.

Thank you,

Brian K. Bond
Executive Director, PFLAG National

P.S. If you aren’t familiar with Jeanne’s compellingly moving story--or the origin story of PFLAG--no one told it better than President Barack Obama. Watch and listen to him share it, now
