What you can do to protect your freedom in the coming year
Dear John,
For centuries, people around the world have been coming to America because of our nation’s commitment to freedom.
But today, more and more people in America—especially people of faith—face censorship and demands to violate their conscience.
How did we get here?
Government officials and activist organizations say you’re still free to believe what you want. You can pray within the confines of your home. You can feed the homeless. And you can care for the sick. These are all pre-approved acts of worship in our society.
But you know that faith isn’t something that’s only reserved for certain activities. It affects every facet of your life—it’s a part of who you are.
And your God-given right to live out your faith according to your conscience is protected by the First Amendment.
Now that freedom is under attack.
If the First Amendment loses, we all lose
America has changed a lot in the past decade. The country you see today may not resemble the land of the free that you know and love.
We are seeing increasing attempts to silence people of faith and punish them because of what they believe.
Teachers and counselors risk losing their jobs if they don’t promote ideas that conflict with biblical principles and scientific fact.

Churches and pro-life organizations are being forced to pay for abortion in their health insurance plans.

Conservative and Christian students (even a third grader!) are censored and silenced when they try to share their beliefs.

Vital services offered by nonprofit homeless shelters and adoption agencies are threatened if these organizations continue to operate consistently with their faith-based missions.

And people like Washington floral artist Barronelle Stutzman

and Colorado cake artist Jack Phillips
[link removed]
are still defending their freedom to run their small businesses consistently with their deeply held beliefs.
John, if America is going to remain a free society, we must act now to protect our most cherished liberties—before things get even worse.
Over the next couple weeks, we’ll be sharing more about the growing threats to your religious freedom and why we must continue to fight and win for your freedom.
