Hi John,

I hope you’re doing all right, staying healthy, and feeling hopeful for the future. Today, I am writing to thank you for joining me in our campaign for Congress in New York’s First District.

The absentee votes have all been tallied, but we still came up short. Despite our loss, I am so proud of the work we’ve done together, and I am confident that our work will have a long lasting impact on Suffolk.

Our mission on this campaign has always been rooted in science. We fought for leadership and policy guided by facts and science, and that fight will always be worth it. And having you with me has been such an honor and privilege. Thank you for being part of our team.

We began this campaign at my kitchen table, and it grew into something much greater. Not only did we receive more votes than any Democratic candidate ever has in New York’s 1st District, but we also forced Republican super PACs to spend well over $2 million to protect their incumbent Representative Lee Zeldin. It’s your support that helped us earn the glowing endorsements of The New York Times and Newsday. Thousands of you contributed to our cause, and over a hundred thousand of you turned out to vote.

While this is not the outcome we hoped for, I know that we will get through the challenges ahead together. Under new leadership in the White House, we will overcome this deadly pandemic, we will make sure every person gets the health care they need, we will safely re-open the economy, and we will build a better future for our children and our children’s children -- here on Long Island and across the country.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for you all. I look forward to continuing to serve this community in every way I can.
