CLASP is excited about the incoming Biden-Harris Administration and applauds the nomination of Alejandro Mayorkas as Secretary of Homeland Security and the economic team announced earlier this week. In addition, to inform the Administration’s work, we are developing bold policy ideas about the issues we work on related to people with low incomes, communities of color, and immigrants and their families—including addressing the harm caused by the pandemic and recession.

Child Care and Early Learning: Addressing the Urgent Crisis and Investing in the Future
|
CLASP helped lead the development of these child care and early learning recommendations from a collaboration of children’s and early care and learning organizations to the Biden-Harris transition team. We were one of 187 organizations that endorsed these recommendations to ensure a strong, equitable child care and early learning system that not only benefits children, families, and early educators but also keeps women in the workforce, increases racial equity, and strengthens our economy for everyone. |

On December 2, Nia West-Bey was a panelist for the Institute for Educational Leadership Policy Fellowship Program webinar entitled “Supporting Vulnerable Student Populations in the Time of COVID-19 Pandemic.”
On November 24, Tiffany Ferrette moderated “The Pandemic of Child Care” panel hosted by the National Governors Association, where panelists discussed supporting babies and providers during the pandemic.
