John, yesterday I
asked Secretary Steve Mnuchin why he’s planning to strip billions of
unspent COVID-19 relief money away from the American people.

When I tried to remind him of the law that Congress passed which
contradicts his reasoning, he questioned whether I'm a lawyer. (The answer
is yes, I am a lawyer. But that’s beside the point.)

I didn’t ask my questions so that we could talk about my resume. I asked
my questions on behalf of the millions of families who are struggling to
pay rent, who are waiting in long lines at food pantries, and who need
immediate relief.

Look, our country is facing an economic crisis, and those in power are
making up reasons for why they can’t help. We need answers as to
why—that’s why I’m here.
