On December 1st, thousands of people across Chicagoland were left unable to pay their rent — again. Thanks to Mitch McConnell and the GOP’s refusal to pass real relief, working families were unable to put enough food on their table, pay their healthcare bills, or go to work safely.

On January 1st, our friends and neighbors will face the same challenges — but the small safety net we have left will disappear.

Here in our community, nursing homes and hospitals continue to struggle with the impact of COVID-19. If the Senate doesn’t take action, emergency relief funding will disappear and leave healthcare workers and patients without funding for PPE and other critical needs.

Our schools continue to need the resources to re-open safely or provide a quality, distanced education to every student.

Our public transit system continues to serve our frontline workers with only a fraction of the funds it needs because of the GOP’s refusal to help communities like ours.
