Environmental Champion,

Together, we have stopped terminals big and small that would have further tied our region to fossil fuels. We have come together to make our clean energy future a reality by advocating for investments in our climate and pushing back on false industry arguments that keep dirty fuels in our communities.

Now, we have an important opportunity to raise our voices up once again and ensure that the Washington State Energy Strategy – the plan that is developed to guide our state in achieving our greenhouse gas emission targets and build off our 100% clean electricity law – is bold and actionable.

Join me at a public comment next Monday [[link removed]] on the draft Strategy and make it clear: we must invest in a clean, efficient, and equitable economy to address our climate crisis.

When: Monday, December 7th: Two public comment periods, 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm

What: Comment on the Draft State Energy Strategy

Where: Register here [[link removed]] for the virtual meeting. If you are not able to attend, you can submit written comments via email to [[email protected]].

The State’s Energy Strategy is designed to provide the roadmap to achieve our climate goals. The Strategy builds off the laws we already have on the books and lays out what we must tackle next. It calls for phasing out fossil fuels from our buildings, transportation sector and economy. It calls for systemic change across all sectors to truly transition our economy – and highlights the importance of acting now.

We know this is what it takes to tackle climate change, and now the fossil fuel industry is pushing back and trying to weaken the Strategy. This is our opportunity to be clear that the Strategy needs to be strengthened – not weakened – while it is still a work in progress.

Sign up today and make your voice heard at the public hearing [[link removed]]. Let state leaders know you support phasing out fossil fuels as part of the work to achieve a clean and equitable economy.

The Strategy is only as good as it is it useful. Click here for more talking points and suggested ways to strengthen it. [[link removed]]

Thank you for your work.

Stay safe,
