** China urged to act for threatened wildlife ([link removed])

EIA has led a call of 27 organisations to pressure lawmakers in China to reduce consumer demand for threatened wild animal species. China’s Wildlife Protection Law has been under revision this year and, triggered by the coronavirus pandemic, the country has banned commercial breeding and trade of most terrestrial wild animals for consumption as food. However, it will still allow commercial trade in endangered wild animals and their body parts for uses such as traditional medicine and ornaments.
