According to Donald Trump Jr.’s advisors, “There is a critical role that must be played in both Georgia Senate runoffs: turning out the Trump vote.” And to accomplish that, the GOP is launching “an aggressive campaign in support of the two Republican candidates, focused on energizing and turning out Trump supporters.”

That’s right, now that Trump is on his way out, his favorite loyalists are keeping their eyes on Georgia in hopes that Trump’s remaining supporters -- and let’s face it, there are a lot of them -- will help Mitch McConnell keep his grasp on power to block Biden’s legislative agenda in 2021.

If Republicans win the Senate runoffs in Georgia, we won’t just see McConnell expand his legislative graveyard with bills covering everything from climate action to criminal justice reform to economic relief, but Republicans will also hold the power to block Biden’s Cabinet picks or any of his picks to the judiciary.

The Hill reports: “While Trump lost the presidential election in Georgia, the race was still razor thin. Biden won 49.51 percent of the state’s vote, while Trump won 49.25 percent.” The fact is that we know we can win in Georgia, but we will need a record turnout like the one we saw in November to do it again -- and right now we don’t have the funds we need to expand our voter outreach efforts.

 

We’ve already seen how grassroots action can tip the scales in an election -- Biden’s victory in Georgia was proof of that -- and you have been a crucial part in helping us bring a blue wave to Washington. Now, we’re hoping we can count on you to ensure the progressive agenda we know our country needs doesn’t die in Mitch McConnell’s Senate come January.
