Dear John,
This week Met Éireann warned that extreme weather patterns are set to get much worse due to climate disruption. We learnt too that the Amazon rainforest has reached record levels of deforestation. The case for climate action is urgent - we are running out of time. The good news is that you can act!
Next Monday, 7th December is the day when we'll show our new government just how many people across the country are demanding climate action. Join our TD Lobby for Faster and Fairer Climate Action to be one of these people.
Register for the TD Lobby for Climate Action
Over 600 people have registered to meet their TDs and speak up for climate action. It's going to be amazing. Here are more details and one last chance to get in on the action. This is not about being an expert, you don't even have to speak if you don't want to, all you need to do is turn up.
John, I'm not going to lie, organising a lobby for hundreds of people on Zoom is a big logistical operation! So I need your help. Please could you register today if you hope to take part in the lobby? Knowing who you are - and what constituency you're from - will really help us as we prepare for the day.
So could you take 60 seconds to register now?
Yes, I’ll make life easy for you and register today!
John, I also wanted to update you on what will happen on Lobby day. You'll be designed specific 30 minute timeslots to meet your TDs with other people from your constituency. You can
check the timeslots that have been organised for your constituency TDs here. This document will be updated as more meetings with TDs are arranged -
so keep a check on it between now and Monday. You can use the same Zoom link for each meeting with your TD - everyone who registers for the lobby will be sent this Zoom link.
In addition to meeting your own TDs, we've got a special event planned for 7pm on the day of the Lobby. We're organising an online rally! To replace the photo stunts we've had at previous mass lobbies when we met TDs physically in Buswells Hotel. So if you’ve got a few minutes at 7pm please join us. You can use the same Zoom link that you'll have used when meeting your TDs.
Let's make the rally colourful! Bring your own homemade mini banner - or a sign with your constituency name on it that you can hold up in front of the screen. Or wear your county colours or a local jersey. Do all three if you like! Please join the rally from 6:50pm to allow time to connect and any other technical stuff. You don’t want to miss it!
Like everything else, you need to register for the lobby to join the rally.
Register for the TD Lobby
When it comes to climate action, I can't emphasis how powerful it is to talk to your TDs. So I really hope you can take part on Monday. Every person who takes part matters - and really counts!
I also have a special plea for people from the following constituencies. We really need people from these areas to join - otherwise their TDs may turn up and have no one to meet them! So are you from
Cavan-Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin Mid West, Dublin West, Longford-Westmeath, Louth, Meath East, Sligo-Leitrim, Tipperary or Waterford? If you are, we really need you! Or do you know someone from these places, who you could forward this email to? They can
register for the Lobby here - or using the button below.
With thanks for all you do,
Áine
Mobilisation Coordinator
Stop Climate Chaos
P.S. You don't need to be an expert, you just need to turn up! The direct link to register for the TD Lobby is here: https://actionnetwork.org/events/td-lobby-for-faster-and-fairer-climate-action/
