The Trump team has failed to prove their wild conspiracy theory that the election was stolen through mass voter fraud. Their legal team faces an embarrassing string of court losses, and the man in charge of the effort -- Rudy Giuliani -- appears incapable of holding a press conference without turning it into a meme.
But these failures have not moved Donald Trump or his allies to accept the election results. Instead, they are attempting one more Hail Mary play: Politico reports that they are trying to convince GOP-controlled state legislatures to overturn the will of the voters by appointing Trump electors.

This scheme is unlikely to succeed, but that doesn’t make it any less threatening to our democracy. Frankly, we never thought we’d see the day where a sitting U.S. president would attempt to bully elected officials into reversing the results of an election. But here we are.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t come as a surprise. States like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania only have Republican majorities in their state legislatures because of extreme gerrymandering. If the GOP is willing to use map manipulation to undermine the will of the voters, it makes sense they would turn a blind eye to a president using the power of his office to do the same.
