The Public Health Approach: Our New Report

The Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence (Ed Fund) released a report outlining how a public health approach — the same method successfully used to reduce smoking deaths and car accident fatalities — can be applied to reducing the nation’s epidemic of gun violence. In recent years, nearly 40,000 people have been killed and more than 71,000 injured by firearms annually in the United States. The Ed Fund uses a public health and equity lens to identify and implement evidence-based policy solutions and programs to reduce gun violence in all of its forms.

The report, “The Public Health Approach to Gun Violence Prevention,” lays out a means of reducing the epidemic of gun violence by addressing both firearm access and the factors that contribute to and protect from gun violence. Read the report here.

CSGV at Home

The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) released two new episodes of the ongoing series “CSGV at Home” — a discussion with staff and partners facilitated by Director of Political Communications Andrew Patrick. In the most recent episode, Andrew interviewed the following gun violence prevention advocates: Ayolanda Evans, Protect Minnesota; Deja Garner, WAVE; Dijonee Talley, CeaseFirePA; and LaTonya Wallace, Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence (VA). Watch “CSGV at Home” here.

Gun Violence Prevention Champions Win

The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) endorsed 28 winning congressional candidates in addition to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris during the 2020 general election. Gun violence prevention was on the ballot this November, and voters made their voices heard! CSGV is excited to work with new and incumbent gun violence prevention champions in 2021.
