Climate change is already damaging our health and our environment. Our country needs to lead the charge in tackling this crisis -- are you with me?

Tina Smith

Team,

It's simple: Are we leaders or followers?

This week, climate activist Greta Thunberg spoke to our Senate Climate Change Task Force. Here's what she shared:

“I don't want you to listen to me. I want you to listen to the scientists, and I want you to unite behind science. And then I want you to take real action.”

Her words were powerful. Her dedication to solving this crisis - and making sure others are working on it too - is inspiring. And she's right: We need real action.

Here in Minnesota, we are already seeing the impact of weather pattern changes - from our farming communities to our riverfront infrastructure.

And yet in the Senate, Mitch McConnell refuses to bring any legislation to address climate change to a vote.

And even worse, my Republican opponent Jason Lewis has openly denied global warming, saying that it's a “theory whose fundamental premise looks weaker every day.”

We need a leader to take action on climate change, and I'm stepping up. Chip in $5, $10, $15 or more right now to make sure we can continue tackling this together.

This year I have introduced the Clean Energy Standard Act to set a net-zero target for emissions from the electric sector, and the American Energy Efficiency Act that matches the market incentives states have made to make renewable energy sources affordable.

I am choosing to lead on tackling the climate crisis, and our country needs to do the same. We can't sit back on this, nor can we let someone who denies climate change be in the U.S. Senate.

Chip in now if you're with me.

Thanks for being with me on this,

Tina

U.S. Senator Tina Smith is running for re-election in 2020 in a race NBC News has already labeled a “race to watch” with Donald Trump targeting Minnesota for victory. Make sure she has the resources to fight back.
