Pacific Legal Foundation is proud to announce the launch of a new podcast, Dissed.
Supreme Court dissents have it all: brilliant writing, surprising reasoning, shade, puns, and, often, historic impact. Although they are written by the “losing” side, they can persuade other justices or provide a roadmap for future challenges.
In Dissed, attorneys Anastasia Boden and Elizabeth Slattery interview fellow lawyers, SCOTUS enthusiasts, and even judges to dig deep into important dissents and reveal the stories behind them.
- As the Supreme Court considered the 7th challenge involving Obamacare, Elizabeth and Anastasia looked back at the very first Obamacare case for clues about whether the joint dissent actually began as the majority opinion. Check out Bringing Down Obamacare to learn all about it.
- In Scalia, Blackmun, and Religion, Anastasia and Elizabeth unpack a shocking religious liberty opinion written by Justice Scalia and the even more surprising dissent. During this term, the Supreme Court is considering whether to throw out Scalia’s most controversial opinion.
