Hi John,

Longtime diplomat Linda Thomas-Greenfield is set to be Joe Biden’s ambassador to the United Nations as part of Biden’s first round of Cabinet picks -- and she is determined to restore our world standing.

Thomas-Greenfield has a decades-long career under her belt. She served within the U.S. diplomatic corps during the Rwandan genocide, represented our country as ambassador to Liberia, and served as Assistant Secretary for African Affairs under President Obama. But within five days of Donald Trump’s presidency, Thomas-Greenfield was fired as part of Trump’s purge of career professionals.

We’re proud to see the return of this powerful Black woman leading our foreign affairs -- now elevated to one of the highest-profile positions in our country’s foreign affairs. As CBS reports, the next U.N ambassador will face a multitude of challenges, “including the global pandemic and its economic consequences, climate change, and the nuclear standoff with Iran” -- and we couldn't be in better hands.

Thomas-Greenfield has said that “diversity requires proactive attention by the administration” and we are confident she will use her position in Biden’s Cabinet to restore our world standing with these values in mind. But today, we need to know where Americans like you stand on one of Biden’s first Cabinet picks:

Do you support Linda Thomas-Greenfield as ambassador to the U.N.?

YES   NO

Thank you so much for taking our poll today!
