All Eyes on Georgia

Georgia Senate run-off candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff

While not as many states flipped GOP Senate seats like we did here in Colorado, the contest for the majority in the U.S. Senate isn't over! Democratic candidates Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff are headed to January 5, 2021 run-off elections!

How can we help??

It's all hands on deck, and the entire country will be watching Georgia! Here's immediate ways you can get involved to help Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff win!

  • Phone Bank for Reverend Raphael Warnock! (Hosted by Grassroots Dems HQ)
  • Neighbor-to-Neighbor Phone Bank (Hosted by Jon Ossoff for Senate)
  • Relational Canvassing - Runoff Election (Hosted by the Georgia Dems)

Whoever wins these two seats could determine the course of Joe Biden's presidency. If the GOP wins, Mitch McConnell keeps his majority, and he'll have the power he needs to obstruct every policy idea Dems want to pass.

But, if Dems win these seats in Georgia? Legislation like a health care public option, voting rights protections, combating climate change, raising the minimum wage to $15, and so much more are possible!

But we have to win these two seats. What do you say?

2021 Re-Org Alert!

Image

Listen up, as if our soon-to-be First Lady Dr. Jill Biden were teaching your class!

You're about to learn some important stuff!

So what is “Re-Org”?

Re-Org is shorthand for “Re-organization”.  It is simply the election we hold for party officer positions every two years as provided by Colorado law and Colorado Democratic Party rules.

When are Reorganization meetings?

Early next year in 2021.  The dates are set by state law and start party rules.  All reorganizations will be held virtually in 2021 due to COVID-19.

County Reorganizations will be held Feb. 1 - Feb. 15, 2021 (ask your county party for date).

Dates for Multi-County Reorganizations will be coming SOON.

The state Reorganization will be held March 20, 2021.

What jurisdictions hold Reorganizations?

Counties, County Commission Districts, House Districts, Senate Districts, Judicial Districts, Congressional Districts, Initiatives of the State Party & the State Party.

What positions are up for election?

  • Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer
  • Other Officer Positions as Provided by Bylaws
  • Bonus Members to State Executive Committee
  • Bonus Members to State Central Committee
  • Platform Committee Members
  • Any other positions as provided by bylaws or central committee vote.

How to run?

Give 10 days written notice to the chair of the jurisdiction of your interest and intent to run.  You must be a registered Democrat.  Talk to the chair of your county party to find out who is already running and where there may be vacant and needed positions.  Any contested positions will be determined by ballot.

Who can vote?

Members of the District’s Central Committee.

What is a Central Committee?

A central committee is a governing body of the Democratic Party that votes on important decisions. Its composition will vary depending on the jurisdiction.  e.g. the State Central Committee is different than your County Central Committee.  [Generally, the central committee consists of the district officers (elected at the last re-org), precinct organizers or PCPs (who were just elected at caucus), and certain elected officials (once sworn in).
