About 45 million Americans owe $1.6 trillion in student loans. The student
debt crisis on top of the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic impacts are
disastrous for working families and our economy.

Joe Biden will have the ability to cancel billions in student debt on his
very first day in office; which is why we’re joining Ayanna, AOC, Ilhan,
Rashida, and many more progressive leaders to send petitions to Joe Biden
calling on him to cancel student debt.

Cancelling student debt is an issue of economic and racial justice. More
than 86% of Black college graduates are forced to take out student loans
to pay for their education and borrow more than their white peers.

By eliminating student debt we will put money back into the pockets of
those who need it most, reduce the racial-wealth gap, and help stimulate
our economy.
