Did you hear the recent news? The West Lake expansion of the South Shore Rail Line received a full funding grant agreement at a recently held groundbreaking ceremony. 

This is phenomenal news for our region! This expanded rail line from Hammond to Dyer will be instrumental to attracting new good-paying jobs to Northwest Indiana. This is an investment in our future that will bring enhanced mobility, economic opportunity, and quality of life for all.

I want to extend my gratitude and congratulations to all the state and local leaders who came together to make this investment a reality. I especially want to thank Congressman Pete Visclosky -- without his commitment and diligence over the past decades, this project would not have happened. 

Congressman Visclosky has always fought to improve the quality of life here in Northwest Indiana -- and I pledge to continue his legacy in Washington and here at home by continuing to invest in our infrastructure and create an economy that works for everyone.

Together, we must build on this momentum to continue to attract additional federal resources to Northwest Indiana to create more good-paying jobs and thriving communities.
