Rather than passing a complete Repeal of House Bill 6,
legislation at the center of a $61 million bribery scandal, members of
the Ohio legislature are considering a bill that
simply delays the charges you would have to pay to
FirstEnergy to bail out their old nuclear and coal plants
for one year.
This is nothing more than
House Bill 6 all over again.
Please call your State Representative and Senator
now and tell them you will only support a full REPEAL of
HOUSE BILL 6.
It appears for FirstEnergy that $61 million in bribes still
gets you $1.3 billion after a one-year timeout for bad behavior. They
get a slap on the wrist, but you get slapped with a charge on your
electric bill every single month to reward their corrupt
activity.
This is NOT a repeal. This
is a wholly insufficient and embarrassing response for addressing the
largest public bribery scandal in Ohio’s history.
Legislative session is about to come to a close. We cannot
wait one more day to tell our lawmakers that a full and immediate
repeal is the ONLY right thing to do for Ohioans.
