Friends,
Right now, two important enrollment windows are open for Iowans to get the health coverage they need for the year ahead – and I wanted to use this newsletter as an opportunity to remind folks that there is still time to sign up!
If you have questions about HealthCare.gov's open enrollment period, which closes on December 15th, click here.
If you have questions about Medicare's open enrollment period, which closes on December 7th, click here.
Keep reading for more information and a brief update on some of the work I've been doing these past two weeks.

Want More Information on Medicare Open Enrollment?
I'm holding a telephone town hall for folks with questions about Medicare open enrollment this Friday at 3pm CT. Sign up here.
The Medicare Open Enrollment period allows anyone with Medicare to review the changes being made to their current health or prescription drug plan and compare it to others to make sure your plan meets your needs.
Those without prescription drug coverage can also enroll in a drug plan during the Open Enrollment Period, which closes on December 7th!
If you or someone in your family has questions about Medicare Open Enrollment, I'm hosting a telephone town hall with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to help give Iowans answers on their plans.
The town hall starts at 3pm CT this Friday, December 4th. Sign up here!
Pushing for Extension of COVID-19 Relief Programs, New Deal on Stimulus
When Congress passed the CARES Act in March, we authorized many vital programs to help Iowans deal with the COVID-19 pandemic – including extended unemployment benefits, protections for homeowners and student borrowers, and authorizations for Americans relying on telehealth services.
I am beyond frustrated that special interests in Congress have prevented us from finalizing a new deal on stimulus and relief that is needed by millions of Americans still struggling and out of work – but now even the programs we already approved are expiring too. That's not something I will accept.
Government funding runs out on December 11th, and Congress is required to act to prevent another government shutdown. As we do that, I'm urging congressional leaders to include extensions of these CARES Act programs in that deal so that we do not remove these vital protections in the midst of the worst peak in COVID-19 cases we've seen in this pandemic.
I've called out leaders of both parties – asking them to agree to these extensions and approve a compromise deal as soon as possible.

Bringing the Midwest's Voices to the Table in Congress
I'm proud to share that my House colleagues unanimously elected me to represent the Midwest as a Regional Whip in the House Democratic Caucus for the upcoming term.
The Regional Whips serve as a conduit between the region’s Members of Congress and party leadership, and I promise to use this position to keep putting the voices of everyday Iowans and all Midwesterners front and center.
Learn more about my new role as Regional Whip here.
Stay safe and be well,
Cindy
