With significant investments placed into emerging platforms and solutions, technology can often be mistaken as a “silver bullet” for connecting community members with the essential resources they need to be healthy. And while technology solutions can have immense benefits, many technology-centered solutions aimed to address social risks have often struggled to be adopted, scaled, or sustained due to a lack of acceptability and trust within the community. The lack of acceptance and trust within the community even inhibits these interventions’ ability to fully develop and articulate a value case that resonates with the priorities of the community and health system. Ultimately, without intentionally integrating community voice, equity, and anti-racist principles, technology solutions run the risk of not only being ineffective, but perpetuating the inequities they are trying to solve in the first place.
In the next edition of the Intentionally Integrating Equity into Social Determinants of Health Interventions webinar series, three health equity champions will discuss the importance of intentionally centering the community and racial health equity equity when investing in and implementing technology solutions.
During this webinar, panelists will highlight equity-oriented methods, best practices and lessons learned to ensure technology solutions both center and are accountable to racial health equity principles and community voice. Topics will include:
