Tell Congress #ReliefCantWait Indivisibles,
It’s been 8 months since the Senate passed a COVID-19 relief bill. We can’t afford to wait until Joe Biden is inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States. With the pandemic still wildly out of control and thousands of lives being lost each week, we need a COVID-19 relief bill now.
Make a call now to demand COVID-19 Relief
Today, Indivisibles and partner organizations are joining the chorus for COVID-19 relief by calling their senators and make sure they know that #ReliefCantWait. Click here to join this National Call-in Day!
The public health crisis is getting worse, and millions of people are facing financial struggles over the holidays. The only way to turn this around is to get the pandemic under control and provide financial assistance to the people who need it. Congress needs to:
- Extend expiring programs like enhanced unemployment insurance and paid leave,
- Ensure families are protected from evictions,
- Establish a workplace safety standard, and
- Create a plan for free and equitable vaccine distribution.
Unless Congress acts, 12 million unemployed workers will lose their benefits on December 26 -- the day after Christmas -- and a total of 16 million will lose benefits by the end of the year. And the federal moratorium on evictions set to expire on December 31, more than 1 in 4 adults with children are at risk of losing their home. The Senate needs to do its job and pass a new COVID-19 relief package.
Join the National Day of Action and help us make this Congress listen.
