John, student loan debt is a $1.7 trillion burden on nearly 45 million working and middle-class young adults in this country — disproportionately impacting Black and brown communities, exacerbating economic inequality, and making it impossible to build wealth.
Student debt was already a crisis before the pandemic. Now, millions of Americans are having to choose between making a loan payment or keeping a roof over their head. It doesn't have to be this way.
That's why Working Families Party supporters are joining with others nationwide in urging President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris to use the power of their office to cancel student debt. Will you add your name to our petition today?

The average American household with student debt owes $47,671, according to a 2018 household debt study from NerdWallet. Removing this massive burden would immediately contribute to an equitable economic recovery from COVID-19, jumpstart our economy, and help close the racial wealth gap.
President-elect Joe Biden will have the power to cancel student loan debt on January 20, 2021 — just 49 days away. But powerful forces in the private student loan industry are going to try and stop the momentum on this issue. That's why it's critical we raise our voices now so that President-elect Joe Biden has a strong mandate to take bold action on the student debt crisis.
Add your name to our petition calling on the Biden-Harris administration to cancel student debt.
