The government is making big decisions on what to spend money on - we need to make sure that money isn't wasted building more roads. There are lots of reasons why this is a really bad idea, but in short: it will only create more traffic [3], more air pollution, more emissions, and destroy nature. [4]
Ending sales of new petrol, diesel and dirty hybrid cars and vans means we're a step closer to improving transport in the UK, but it won't fix everything. [5]
If all we do is replace polluting cars with zero carbon ones, we'll miss the opportunity to break the UK's dependence on cars. What we need is for the government to completely overhaul our transport system.
Tell the government that we want massive investment in greener, fairer and more affordable transport, not more polluting roads. If they listen, our transport system won't just work for me and you but the planet and future generations:
