Sometimes I feel like my grief is still deepening – like the worst is yet to come.

I've now spent more days without my sweet little Daniel than with him. Our family has been broken longer than it was whole. It hurts almost more than I can bear.

I'm always one minute further away from my life with Daniel, and my greatest fear is losing pieces of him as the gulf keeps getting bigger. When I catch myself forgetting little things about him, I start writing my memories in a journal so they won't disappear. But nothing can bring my sweet little boy back.

That's why I will continue to sacrifice myself for this work – even though it means reliving the nightmare of Daniel's murder every day – because I know that every shooting we prevent spares another parent from experiencing this unending pain.

But right now, we're still very short of our $650,000 Giving Tuesday match goal, and I'm worried we won't be able to work fast enough to prevent the next tragedy if we don't close this gap.
