Friends,
Yesterday, MA House and Senate leaders announced they had come to an
agreement on the long awaited police reform bill. The bill would ban
chokeholds, but does not address the hotly debated issue of qualified
immunity. Check out Progressive Mass' breakdown of the bill here.
It is now likely that the climate committee bill will be released from
committee in the next few weeks. That means it is our last
chance to influence what is in the final climate committee bill.
350 Mass and our allies have worked tirelessly to scour the
Senate and House climate bills and put forth our recommendations as a
part of the Mass Power Forward coalition.
Use this guide to contact your representative and urge
them to lobby the committee in charge of reviewing the climate bill to
enact the important policy points outlined in the Mass Power Forward letter sent back in August. Passing
the best possible version of this bill will put us in a position to
advance more of our agenda in the next legislative session.
In solidarity,
Sam Payne
