As you know, this has been a difficult year for our parks. In addition to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year has brought some of the most devastating attacks on America’s public lands we have ever seen.

One of the most serious threats to national parks emerged this summer with the administration’s weakening of the National Environmental Policy Act, which has protected public lands and public health for more than 50 years. As a result of this action, poorly planned development projects, including highways, oil and gas drilling rigs, and chemical plants, could be fast-tracked with minimal environmental review or public input.

NPCA’s National Parks Legal Defense Fund, along with a nationwide coalition, has filed a lawsuit to stop this attack on this bedrock conservation law. But whether we prevail in court, and in numerous other park-protection battles we are engaged in right now, depends on dedicated members and supporters like you.
