December is really hard for me, John.
I used to love Christmastime. I used to look forward to picking out our tree, baking Christmas cookies with my brothers, James and Daniel, and listening to Christmas music as a family.
Now, I dread this time of year – because everything that used to be a fun family tradition is just another painful reminder that my little brother Daniel is gone forever.
I still miss him so much every single day, and that's why even though it causes me more pain to do this work, I feel like it's my duty to prevent a tragedy like Sandy Hook from happening to anyone else.
I can't do this alone, though – we all have to act. But with only hours until our midnight deadline, we're still short of securing every dollar of our $650,000 Giving Tuesday match to prevent future tragedies. So I need to ask you again: Will you please give right now to have your gift go twice as far to protect children like Daniel from gun violence?
Please give $10, or as much as you can, to Sandy Hook Promise this Giving Tuesday. Your tax-deductible donation will be doubled to save the lives of more kids like my brother – but only until midnight tonight.

As we get closer to Dec. 14, the day that Daniel was murdered, I can't help but replay the weeks before – like the last time we cut down our Christmas tree and decorated it together. Daniel didn't put on ornaments just to do it and get it over with. He took his time and savored the moments, appreciating each ornament and talking and laughing with us.
It just hurts so much that he isn't here.
Your support today will help ensure other families never have to feel that kind of endless pain, and that means the world to me.
