I want to share some numbers that are on my mind right now. Is it okay if I share them with you real quick?

• 8: This year, we’ve helped elect 8 incredible champions for reform for powerful District Attorney positions all across the country.
• 0: Every candidate we endorse accepts $0 from police unions. It’s a drastic shift away from the way District Attorney campaigns are usually funded. But our candidates know it’s critical in making sure they can run a campaign focused on serving justice and not protecting a broken justice system.
• $15.76: This is the average amount we’ve received from online donations this month. Grassroots donations power our team and our work to elect as many justice-focused leaders as we can to our communities.
• And finally $4,983: This is how much left remains in the fundraising goal our team wants to reach by the end of Giving Tuesday so we can continue electing reform-minded District Attorneys to transform our justice system.

If everyone reading this email right now chips in $5, we can close this gap by the end of the day. Can you give $5 or anything you can spare so we can continue growing our justice movement?

I’ll be honest with you. It’s not easy meeting goals like this. But it’s absolutely critical if we want to enact bold change in our criminal justice systems over the long term.

Every race we join is tough. Real Justice endorsed candidates represent a significant threat to the status quo of a legal system that upholds injustice and oppression, but allows many to profit off of doing so.

We saw this in the LA District Attorney race. Law enforcement groups contributed over $5,000,000 — that’s five MILLION — to defeat Real Justice candidate George Gascón.

That’s how determined they are to stop our movement for reform, John. But it wasn’t enough to defeat our people-powered movement.
