John,

Control of the Senate -- and really the success or failure of our progressive agenda in 2021 -- relies on Democrats winning the Senate runoff races in Georgia. Grassroots organizers are going full steam on registering and turning out voters and fighting systemic GOP voter suppression in the state to make sure we succeed.

Mitch McConnell and the GOP have the cards stacked in their favor. Georgia has one of the longest histories of voter suppression in the country, especially when it comes to blocking the voices of Black Americans. More than that, Republicans have consistently won runoffs in the state as Democratic turnout falls off after the November election.

But we’re not falling into a self-fulfilling prophecy -- not when the progress we can achieve for voting rights, reproductive justice, affordable access to health care, and climate action are on the line. As Stacey Abrams has said, if Democrats win we won’t just be blocking the GOP’s extremist agenda, “we will know that the [Senate] tie is broken by the first Black and Asian-American vice president.”

And Abrams knows we can win, “if we can run up the score in absentee balloting, if we can get those ballots banked, if we can run up the score again, that’s how we increase the margin of victory,” just how Democrats won the state for Joe Biden. That’s why today, on Giving Tuesday, we’re hoping you’ll support us in raising funds for two Georgia funds doing just that.

The GOP knows that Abrams and progressive organizers in Georgia have the power to flip the Senate blue in January, that’s why the RNC announced it is launching a “massive field operation” in the state while McConnell-aligned super pacs have invested over $32 million in the state.
