America is in a cultural crisis: Will we preserve our freedoms, or will we lose them?
Dear Reader,
The founders of this great and indispensable nation recognized that certain “inalienable rights” accrue to all humans. Intended as a counter to the depredations of “ruling classes”—those tendencies of governments to ride roughshod over the personal and private liberties of their peoples—the founders purposely enshrined these rights into our constitution, reserving to all citizens (“We the People”) the rights to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
The sad truth is that nearly 250 years since America proclaimed her independence—and in the immediate wake of our contested 2020 election—the principles of our freedom are under assault. From Marxists and Post-Modernists who cannot admit the greatness—and can ill tolerate the independence—of the American republic.
Across all spheres of discourse, an illiberal left tries to stifle any and all dissent from their toxic ideology. Indeed, they would put our nation’s history to the torch. The result is that the enduring integrity of the American system needs our vigorous defense.
This is a responsibility we shoulder. Which is why we’ve committed to building one of the premier venues for debate on the issues of politics, culture, family, education, and religion.
And it’s why we feel privileged to be able to publish Chronicles Magazine and Intellectual Takeout, reaching upwards of 10 million individual readers a year.
Insofar as our mission is predicated upon winning back hearts and minds, we need to reverse the progressive pall of intolerance that has been allowed to perpetuate. In light of this mission, and the suddenly existential nature of the threats of our republic, we’re asking you now, today, to join us in battle.
