What an opportunity! Are you Director material?

We’re delighted to announce an exciting opportunity to lead the Animal Aid team as Director.

Working with staff members and the Council, the Director will:

  • Provide strategic planning and leadership, implement the vision and campaigns of Animal Aid, and raise awareness of the Society’s work against animal suffering.
  • Represent the Society in a variety of forums, at conferences, events and media interviews and by meeting with other organisations or parliamentarians.
  • Oversee all aspects of Animal Aid’s campaigns, education work, merchandise and fundraising – both public-facing and internally.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and our current campaigns and be committed to the objectives of the organisation and be in tune with Animal Aid’s ethical, vegan stance.

For more information, please contact Jonathan at The Right Ethos.

The closing date is 9th December, so don't wait too long!

Their Christmas Wish bus stop advert 2020

Have you spotted our adverts?

We’ve had billboards and bus stop adverts in various towns and cities throughout the UK, encouraging the public to have a cruelty-free Christmas! They feature rescued turkeys who live at The Retreat Animal Rescue as well as photos from one of our undercover investigations, exposing the horrific conditions in which most Christmas turkeys will spend their short lives.

You can find them in Tunbridge Wells, London, Plymouth, Belfast, Norwich, Southampton and Edinburgh. They’ll be running until the middle of this week so be sure to let us know if you spot any of them!

Festive animal displays

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a large impact on UK captive reindeer events. This gives many of the reindeer a break this year from the stresses of being transported up and down the country and held in pens under bright lights to be prodded by excitable and noisy revellers.

Please take a look at our latest reindeer campaign update: Covid-19, reindeer displays and alternative ways to spread Christmas cheer.

horse about to be whipped in race

Mounting evidence against the use of the whip

Two new studies from Australia have focused on the use of the whip in horse racing. They show that the whip is ineffective and that the whip does, indeed, cause pain. Animal Aid has written to MPs, asking them to take action and put pressure on the racing industry to ban the whip.

Please help by contacting your MP straight away. Thank you.

pheasants in breeding cage

Imprisoned birds still need your help

Across the country and out of sight, vast industrial game farms often keep pheasants and partridges in oppressive, barren metal cages. These poor birds are used as ‘breeding stock’, and their offspring will be reared and blasted from the sky for ‘sport’.

Help raise awareness by signing this petition and sharing it on social media. Thank you.

Intensive pig farm application in Doncaster

Please object to the creation of a new intensive pig farm in Sprotborough, Doncaster. If this farm gains permission, pigs will likely be confined in a barren environment with no outdoor access, except on the day that they are loaded onto trucks and taken to the slaughterhouse.

The deadline is 8th December. Thank you.

Please sign the petition calling for the end of greyhound racing

Please sign this petition from the Alliance Against Greyhound Racing. It urges the Government to abolish greyhound racing, via a managed shutdown of activities. It also demands that the welfare of ‘redundant’ dogs is ensured through a levy on the industry.
