Hi John,
It's Giving Tuesday!
In a minute I'm going to ask you to
make a donation to Run for Something. But first, let me remind you what your support actually does.
Building the bench: Today's state and local electeds are tomorrow's congresspeople, governors, and presidents.
We run ads, work with partners, and do a ton of outreach to ask young people, parents, teachers, nurses, and activists (and everyone else!) to Run for Something. We need young, diverse progressives in office to fight for change in our communities, and also gain the experience and resources needed to run for higher office. Your support helps fuel our outreach to these future leaders.
Support and training: If you remember our Armchair Chats – which have been viewed over 2 million times – you know that Run for Something is determined to break barriers that leave young progressives ill-equipped to run strong, well-planned operations. There are no committees teaching school board candidates how to pitch a story to a journalist or how to fundraise digitally --
but Run for Something does, and we'll continue connecting the best campaign practitioners in the country with our people on the ground. Your support keeps programs like these going!
Early investments: When you're a small campaign, starting off with $5,000 instead of $500 can make or break your success. If you're a young woman of color running for state Senate against a longtime incumbent, it's unfortunately not easy to get your campaign running effectively without the resources needed to scale up and build vital campaign programs. That's why
Run for Something wants to expand our fundraising capacity to candidates -- to give diverse, young progressives the money they need to win sustainable power. Your support will put money in their pockets, with expert advice on how to spend it (wisely) standing by!
And this isn't even HALF of the support your generosity will build.
But we need to keep growing. Run for Something can keep recruiting, training, supporting, and electing young, diverse progressives if grassroots donors, like you, keep empowering these programs.
With a sizable gap in our operating budget, we're counting on your continued support.
Can you help, John? By chipping in $5 or more on Giving Tuesday, we can win sustainable, permanent power for Democrats in 2021, 2022, 2023, and beyond.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Thanks,

P.S. Full transparency, as always: Giving Tuesday is usually seen as a holiday for making tax-deductible donations. Run for Something does partisan electoral work -- that means we can't be a 501c3 organization, and it means your donations to us aren't tax-deductible. That designation makes it harder for us to fundraise (especially because it means we can't use tools like Facebook or Instagram fundraisers). But I'm not too worried, because I know you're not giving to Run for Something because of the tax benefit for you -- you're giving because it'll make the world a better place. Thanks for being part of the team.
Run for Something is a grassroots-powered organization that recruits and empowers young progressives running for local office, with the goal of winning permanent power for decades to come. We rely on support from grassroots donors pitching in a little to create big change. Please chip in now to help us continue running and winning.
