Friend,
In the heart of Hempstead, New York, one of the lowest income communities on Long Island, we manage a 2,400 square foot community food garden that provides fresh produce for 200 food insecure families each year, while teaching K-12 youth how to sustain themselves on the land.
Click here to donate to our community garden! Our fundraiser runs through December 15!
Our community food garden programs include interactive workshops on starting and maintaining a community garden—gardening techniques, varieties of plants, healthy nutrition. We also take this as an opportunity to highlight the problem of food insecurity in the community, and connect young people to local campaigns that address root causes.
With the pandemic leaving so many behind, food gardens managed by the community that distribute fresh produce and fruit to struggling families will be critical more than ever. Contribute what you can to our Hempstead garden!
With your help, we can grow our community garden and feed many more families.
In solidarity,
Lucas Sanchez
