Dear John, This Giving Tuesday, we feel a renewed sense of hope and commitment to
strengthen our visionary frontline movements. The work of movements under trying conditions is a power that can move mountains. Imagine if the conditions were less trying? As we keep winning we will keep getting stronger. It is our #TimeToThrive. We are also feeling grateful. Grateful to the countless Black, Brown, Indigenous and LGBTQI communities who have poured their love and risked their lives to defend democracy and reject fascism unequivocally. We are grateful to the innumerable DACA youth who mobilized to get the vote out, along with other undocumented communities. We are grateful to the global
intersectional feminist movements who named capitalism and patriarchy as the root causes of exploitation of women’s invisible reproductive labor. We are grateful to our global allies, who underscored the ripple effects of U.S. elections and imperialism on global wellbeing.
Today we ask you to invest in our regenerative organizing for justice, equity and peace. Our goal is to raise $100,000 by the end of January to prepare for mobilizations within the first 100 days of the new administration. It
takes resources to move mountains, and grassroots movements receive a drop in the bucket of big philanthropic dollars that often resource the same business-as-usual institutional actors.
And yet, we know that in 2021 we have no interest in business-as-usual. We are mobilizing to push the Biden-Harris administration to invest in an ant-racist, feminist, regenerative economy that centers life and wellbeing of all communities. In November, we collaborated with our partners to call for a Green New Deal and the THRIVE Agenda in a 24-hour action outside the Democratic National Headquarters in DC, and our op-ed in Newsweek highlighted the need for intersectional women of color to remake U.S. foreign policy. “After decades of flawed and failed U.S. foreign policy, Joe Biden has the opportunity to chart a new direction, one that can advance the conversation of achieving basic human rights and a secure future for the nation and the world. The stakes have never been higher,” wrote Christine Ahn, Yiffat Susskind and GGJ’s ED, Cindy Wiesner.
We are already holding the Biden-Harris administration accountable to embrace the Green New Deal to protect the
planet and rebuild the economy that puts people before corporations and profits.
